Although I still enjoy fucking with people by posting the entire content of A Modest Proposal as a user icon on MySpace, I have moved onto something else that may have some marketing uses.

That was VERY time consuming. Chopping up the image was not much of a hassle, but generating 16 unique MySpace accounts and also going through each one to friend myself.

The next step is to hunt down the CSS that controls the padding/border around those images and friend name text. That is going to probably be hours of work.

I noticed a while ago that MySpace resizes your images to 90 pixels wide for displaying in other people's friends list (and other spots). It doesn't bother with the image height at all. I wanted to see how big an icon I could make. I'm still trying to get something larger (just tried a 2 by 10,000 pixel image, but an "unknown error occurred" when I tried to add it), but a friend got me the complete text of A Modest Proposal as my image. I had originally tried to get the whole text in an image, but my image authoring software maxed out at 6,000 pixels high. My friend was able to get the whole thing into a 90 by 14,600 pixel image. I won't show it here as it would really piss off everyone that reads this on their friend's page.

I have a feeling that there has to be a way to break it. Maybe I can try to feed it a 90 X 1,000,000 pixel image? File size won't be a problem as long as it is a GIF.

I just read this blog entry (ASCII by Jason Scott) about someone who was hosting an image that got hot linked into thousands of MySpace profile backgrounds. It was eating up his bandwidth and he eventually goatse'd them all.

I had planned to do this on purpose back in October!!

I am glad to hear that it is being done and tens of thousands of people have already been goatse'd.

This makes me happy.
