I've been playing this game a little here'n'there while I have been recovering from a tonsilectomy. I had high hopes for this game, but it just isn't living up to the hype.

The game looks stunning and has a lot going for it. It is really one little tiny thing that is seriously bumming me out on this game: There are no "peed around corner" mechanics for this game.

This lack of a feature is pretty ridiculous. I mean, enemies can blind shoot out of half open doors, but I have to put my character's whole body in the line of fire to see who is out there. It is 2007, right? I mean, every FPS I have played that has come out since Gears of War has had this game mechanic. Rainbow6: Vegas has it down quite well and Medal of Honor: Airborne has a really good (albeit nearly completely different) take on it as well. Going from either of those games into this game makes you feel like you are driving a hot Audi, but on one of those tracks from disney land. Yea, it's a great game, but dear lord you have my hands tied in a really silly way!

The game isn't completely ruined because of this. The rest of the game is quite good so it almost evens out and still holds it head above the slew of mediocrity out there. The graphics are far better than much I have seen to date (tank exhaust causes heat distortion, viewing from a gun ship at night while you man the guns via thermal vision has really great "video blur" that is exceptionally realistic when you pan quickly, etc.).

It's like I bought an amazing pair of shoes with a tack welded on the inside.

If anyone every releases another FPS in this day'n'age without the ability to peak around corners, then you deserve to be slapped around like silly piñata you have made yourself to be.
