I am still figuring out where I want to go with the damned layout of this thing. I want to customize it, but my lord, LJ makes it a real pain in the ass to get what I'm looking for. I figured I could just bump around a few chunks of HTML and what not, but it's not that easy. Hopefully one of these days this thing will embody my own style with some amount of usability geared towards ya'll.
I just got this from my friend Nicholas early this AM: Whilst I sit at home instead of going to work because the Parisian public schools are on strike I thought I might point out the light and dark of some recent events in Paris. The schools are striking because the principal of a school near my home was detained by police for letting parents into her school after the police tear-gassed them. The parents had confronted police who were trying to whisk away an illegal immigrant, apparently an elderly Chinese man who had come to pick up his grandchild from school. The parents, finding this outrageous, made a damn good effort to prevent the police car from rolling out, until they were gassed. These gestapoesque efforts of grabbing people on the street are part of Nicolas Sarkozy's (current Minister of Interior and presidential candidate) "Fuck You" style of PR -- appealing to the xenophobic crowd which abounds in France. Please oppose his candidature as President of France. If he gets in GWB will have little resistance in Europe, and that is potentially disastrous...
