I am still figuring out where I want to go with the damned layout of this thing. I want to customize it, but my lord, LJ makes it a real pain in the ass to get what I'm looking for. I figured I could just bump around a few chunks of HTML and what not, but it's not that easy. Hopefully one of these days this thing will embody my own style with some amount of usability geared towards ya'll.

I have been working on this video for quite some time.

I shot the video and spent a few weeks editing it. Although, there was no music. I edited the video to a complex click track to allow me to edit in time to not only beats, but phrases and other changes that did not yet exist.

Best to click on the link and go to Vimeo where you can actually watch it in the 720p HD I uploaded instead of the small window here.

I did everything except star in the piece. That honor goes to Mr. Where.

Good work Mr.T.

Thankya sir.

But you did a lot of work too. I didn't have to eat all that KFC and drink all that Bud Light + Clamato!

Excellent work. Never have I been so engrossed in watching bearded people eat.

The filming was so very good, and so well synched with the music that you could have put anything in there.

Many thanks.

It was an interesting experience editing a film to music that didn't yet exist. I had an idea of what I wanted in my mind and edited to that (and the complex click track).

If you like it, share it or favourite it so I can get it bumped up in rankings!

If I can get enough interest, I may be able to make more films if I can get a hold of more video gear. I have more ideas.....

I would hate the idea of you not doing more films and not having more gear to do more things.

I'll get it up on mykeamend.com and try to get it up on the Miskatonic Archive tonight as well.

BRILLIANT!

Many many thanks.

The fact that you are willing to do that makes me think you might actually like the work, which is flattering. Again, many thanks.

I also figure that if I do more videos like this, I might end up doing more audio production as well. ;-)

Well, Beth, my artist girlfriend was also commenting much the same about this piece. It is impressive how impressive you were able to make the mere act of eating look.

And yes, very yes, on the music. And the two can certainly go hand in hand; you can't promote anything these days without some catchy video footage.

Speaking of which, when I can afford you I might hit you up for something of the like. Not right now because Xmas seasons and economic depressions are always terrible for purveyors of art and frivolous things - but perhaps this Spring...

I couldn't decide if what I created was a music video or a short film. I think it is both. I'd like to continue down that route.

I am finding it as a good motivating factor and mechanism to instigate music creation. I could take the method used here (film footage with a rough idea in mind, then edit to a click track with a even more detailed idea in mind, then write the music to that video) and expand it to being THE catalyst for my music.

Absolutely hit me up once you can. I am a full time freelancer at the moment and am feeling the economic hit, so spread the word and hit me up when you can.

"I couldn't decide if what I created was a music video or a short film"

I think that is what makes it an awesome video, or an gripping music-driven film.

Whichever one you are wanting to do, this is a perfect formula in my opinion.

I think I shall continue down this route and see where it takes me. I just need the gear, time, muse, and money! ;-)

Maybe I should call it a "short multimedia experience", but that sounds like some New Media Douchebag™ term. hrm.....
mykeamend From: mykeamend Date: December 11th, 2008 06:17 am (UTC) (Link)
That does sound very New Media Douchebag™, sounds like one of those terms I'd imagine the CEO of my former advertising and design workplace patting himself on the back for on his deathbed - mainly because I imagine him on his deathbed an awful lot.

Oh, and: http://mykeamend.com/new/?p=97. I only have about 50 people who actually *read* my myspace blog, and I suspect even less for LJ. But my actual website traffic is pretty good.

Speaking of which: I've killed my site a bout a hundred times over the past hours trying to get it up.

I thought it was the video, but it was actually my style settings for quoted text. I feel like a dumbass... tried resizing, tried youtube, tried resizing the youtube embed... etc... etc...

Ah! Thank you very much for placing it on your blog.

My apologies for causing a false positive on your error meter. HTML/CSS can still be one heckava bitch. Although, life would be much better if IE died a quick, but painful, death.

If every browser but one died, I would be happy.

It doesn't even really matter which one.

I would prefer to see Firefox only just for convenience' sake, as it is cross-platform and not run by either OS maker.

I wonder who all these people are who keep deciding that we need yet another and another browser?

Anymore, by the time I am done making something look good in both IE and firefox, Mac and PC, then grudgingly adjusting for safari - I am done.

I got tired long ago of people wanting me to troubleshoot for this or some Johnny-come-lately 1% share browser or their uber-special .2% share OS, just so they can feel elite for not going with the sensible choice: The browsers that everyone on the interwebs programs for, the browsers that already work and need no troubleshooting.

Instead, I have to roll back and forth between several computers and try out each of their browsers, and there always seems to be another browser on the way.

It seems much like making up one's own language, and getting upset and indignant with everyone else for not trying to speak it.

Mozilla was the bane of my existence for years, because I really needed to focus on the 97%, and it was always a bit of work making something work and look properly in I.E. without mozilla completely screwing it up.

But now that it has a good enough share, I sort of feel that there should be no other browser... ever. It would certainly make my work easier.
